Alfie Gatt teaches mixed media in Mdina
Alfie Gatt was born in 1985 in the small and sunny island of Malta. His drive and passion for his love of art started in his early childhood years. Out of college, he was still finding his own path since art was no easy means to bring food to the table. So he
hard to add another creative related skill, by teaching himself the techniques of video editing and 2D animations.
In 2011, Alfie decided to experiment with combined all his learned skills with his experiences by publishing his first video paint on social media. This was an original way to express his painting process to the general public. Not only were the videos a window to his way of painting, but they were gladly welcomed by TV stations to be aired even during prime time as fillers between programs.
Alfie’s current style is a mix of figurative and surrealism by giving the artworks unique style and visually pleasing and yet contemporary. He fondly describes his artistic work as a balance and marriage of graphical and fine art. This effect is demonstrated by using multiple mediums such as watercolour, ink, coloured pencil, acrylic, and wax pastels.
By profession, Alfie is a full-time Graphic Designer/Artist at a private company.
Jacqueline Agius teaches watercolour painting in Valletta
Jacqueline Agius was born to an artistic father and his talent seems to have rubbed off on her. Drawing as a child was never a difficult task. Following oil painting classes in secondary school, several courses at the School of Art in Valletta and workshops with renowned local artists, her paintings developed as the years went by. Today she finds painting outdoors very inspiring and visiting a new location always an intense experience. She held her first solo exhibition in November 2007. Her paintings reflect a life long fascination with the interplay of light, shadow, colour and form. The colours are vibrant and the light unmistakably that of sunny Malta. There is a sense of familiarity with them, whether these are chapels, streets, country and marine scenes or other places in Malta and Gozo.
